Zhoushan, China, 27 January 2026 – PaxOcean Zhoushan Shipyard today celebrated the naming of Hull H1053, PAC LEO, the second 40,000-deadweight-tonne (DWT) multi-purpose vessel built for Pacific Carriers Limited (PCL). The event marks the next milestone in PCL’s fleet renewal programme and the continued progression of the vessel series from design to construction.
PAC LEO follows the successful naming of PAC LIBRA (Hull H1052), the first vessel in the series, and highlights PaxOcean’s capability in executing technically sophisticated newbuilds with precision and schedule reliability.
Mr. Tan Thai Yong, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of PaxOcean Group, said:
“The naming of PAC LEO reflects the consistent execution of our series-building programme. It demonstrates PaxOcean’s engineering and construction capabilities, and our ability to deliver vessels that meet owners’ specifications.”
Mr. Hor Weng Yew, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of PCL, said: “PAC LEO represents another step forward in our fleet renewal programme. The vessel has been designed for operational flexibility and efficiency, ensuring it will meet our cargo requirements for years to come.”
Built on the same next-generation design as PAC LIBRA, PAC LEO is configured to support a wide range of cargo profiles, including project, breakbulk, and dry bulk trades. The vessel features heavy-lift cranes, wide open deck arrangements, and a modern hydraulic tween-deck system to enhance cargo-handling efficiency and onboard safety.
In line with PCL’s decarbonisation objectives, PAC LEO incorporates energy-saving technologies and is completed with ESS-ready and LNG-ready configurations, providing operational flexibility for future energy transition pathways.
Godmother Mrs Kuok blessed PAC LEO during the ceremony, marking the second vessel in Pacific Carriers Limited’s 40,000 DWT multi-purpose series.
PaxOcean acknowledges the contributions of Pacific Carriers Limited, the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), design and technical partners, and the shipyard teams whose expertise enabled the successful construction of PAC LEO.
