PEOPLE AND COMMUNITY

At PaxOcean, we are committed to fostering a safe and inclusive work environment and empowering our employees to make a difference through a wide range of community engagement initiatives.

OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY

Our employees' health and well-being are our foremost priority. We prioritise Health, Safety, Environment and Quality Assurance (HSEQ) matters in our operations and believe all accidents are preventable. Our projects are executed under rigorous control and solid compliance with our safety, health, quality and environmental management systems.

Bolstered by a highly experienced management team, our shipyards are certified to ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 international standards, demonstrating our commitment to ensure health and safety at work.

Human Capital Development

As of January 2021, PaxOcean employs a diverse workforce of 1,670 employees, bringing together a range of skills, backgrounds, and experiences. We are constantly enhancing training for all our employees–both onshore and offshore, enabling them to reach their full potential through providing equal opportunities and fostering an inclusive workplace where they feel valued, respected, empowered, and inspired.

  • Talent planning and leadership development as part of succession planning
  • Annual learning activities for workforce competency and development
  • Employee engagement initiatives through regular formal and informal surveys, meet-ups and activities to instil work-life balance and well-being
  • Fair employment practices and equal opportunities to build an inclusive workplace
  • Partnership with government agencies to promote a lifelong learning culture

Caring for our Community

We support the communities we serve and collaborate closely with non-profit organisations to create long-term benefits—while encouraging our employees to reach their fullest potential.

Our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and community work includes:

  • Organising the 2017 Charity Walk at Punggol Waterway Park that raised more than S$50,000 for SUN-DAC, a non-profit social service agency that serves and cares for clients with disabilities
  • Hosting the 2018 Charity Walk at Gardens by the Bay to raise more than S$150,000 for SUN-DAC and Care SG, offering some support for caring and serving those with varying intellectual, physical, mental, sensory and learning disabilities
  • Volunteering for #BYOBclean, a Stay Prepared initiative led by Temasek Foundation, where our employees distributed free hand sanitisers to households, to help the community stay safe and healthy during the COVID-19 crisis
  • Supporting our local community through a quarterly donation drive, distributing essential provisions to over 300 needy families in Batam, Indonesia
